Olive Oil Tasting in the Castle of Monemvasia
You'll have the chance to take a closer look at the most characteristic product of the land of Laconia and the Southern Peloponnese, the famous olive oil, and to learn about the olive tree which is closely tied to the life of the people in the area. Fotini and Paraskevas will be your guides and the place is "Edodimopolio", their local products' shop in the main alleyway of the Castle of Monemvasia. Their olive grove is located in the village of Nomia, south of Monemvasia and the trees are of the variety of Athenolia, some of them dating from 1850. You may taste their excellent quality extra virgin olive oil, produced by the family for three generations and learn more about the cultivation of the olive tree and the process of producing the olive oil. You may also be informed about other hand-made products that are made of olive oil (soap, cosmetics, etc.)
